Dr. Tom Morfee, formerly a corporate research scientist, has spent the past 25 years in grassroots organizing efforts. Starting with a small group of dedicated people in the town of Gig Harbor, Washington (near Seattle), Tom was instrumental in establishing a powerful grass-roots non-profit organization, the Peninsula Neighborhood Association (http://www.harbornet.com/pna). Because of PNA, the small-town character of Gig Harbor has been preserved. In 1996 PNA gained national recognition by successfully defending Gig Harbor from an attempted invasion by the world's largest retailer, WalMart.

Why reinvent the wheel? If you need assistance in dealing with growth pressures in your community, Tom is available for consulting. For information on how his experience can be brought to bear in your community, call (239) 839-2387, or e-mail tmgypsy@worldnet.att.net.
